Mayor Should Embrace Vision of 2015 Committee

Submitted by Beutler for Mayor on November 8, 2006 - 2:00am. ::

“Mayors make visions happen. The next Mayor must embrace the kind of vision offered by the 2015 Committee and make it a reality. The Mayor and the private sector must be Lincoln’s team, working together for victory,” said Mayoral candidate Chris Beutler.

“Public private partnerships are a key to building Lincoln. I have worked
with most of the members of the 2015 committee and respect their collective
judgment, energy, and commitment to our city’s future.”

Beutler described the job of the next city administration with respect to the
2015 group proposals as follows:

  1. Support private enterprise elements of the plan in a timely and effective manner.
  2. Work constructively with the private sector to effectively sequence the
    plan projects.
  3. Work with the private sector to creatively and effectively finance the
    public/private projects.
  4. Build community understanding and support for these initiatives.
  5. Work tirelessly to support UNL efforts related to the plan.
  6. Seek out and promote the expansion of existing businesses to implement
    the plan.
  7. Recruit and encourage new businesses to locate in the plan area.

Beutler also indicated support for other initiatives that will lead to new business development and new vision for the city such as a street infrastructure financing plan and the removal of unreasonable impediments to growth on the city’s edges.

“The Mayor should be the Lincoln’s pulling guard, clearing a path for catalyst developments that forge Lincoln’s future.
