Campaign Kickoff Rally

The campaign held its kickoff rally last night. One of the ballrooms at the Embassy Suites was packed with supporters and I was able to give a speech that, I think, really defined the choice that Lincoln voters have before them this election. Some of the ideas expressed were the following:

  • Lincoln is a great place to live, work, and raise a family. There is so much good here and in the people who call this city home. But there is one thing that must change.
  • The next Mayor Lincoln must lead.
  • I will be that Mayor who leads. I will be involved in making sure Lincoln grows the right way. I will take a lead in making sure economic development happens, but not at the expense of Lincoln’s quality of life.
  • My opponent disagrees with this idea and believes that government should just get out of the way. He’s wrong.
  • “Wait and see” is not a solution. It is not a solution for a city that needs new roads, new infrastructure, new ideas and new energy.
  • We simply cannot afford to wait. We need a can-do attitude to bring new jobs to Lincoln now, to invest in our roads and infrastructure, to get our fiscal house in order and bring the best out of our city government.

We’ve posted video of my entire speech here on ChrisBeutler.com. I encourage you to watch it and share it with your friends. As I said, Lincoln has a clear choice to make this year. I’m running for Mayor because I love Lincoln and I won’t sit back and wait for things to happen. I will lead.
