A message from Chris Beutler about Negative Campaigning

A statement from Chris Beutler:

"I learned today about a mailing to Lincoln voters regarding my opponent Ken Svoboda from the State Democratic Party. I do not believe that discussing Mr. Svoboda’s personal life was appropriate. My campaign was not consulted about this ahead of time. Had we been consulted, I would have told them not to do it.

"I am extremely disappointed that they have chosen to take this route. It is one thing to talk about our differences of opinion on issues. That’s what campaigns are all about.

"Personal negative attacks are just plain wrong, that’s not how I choose to conduct myself, nor how I choose to conduct my campaign. Make no mistake about it: I do not condone the State Democratic Party’s mailing.

"Negative personal attacks are becoming all too common from both political parties and it needs to stop. I call on both the Democratic and Republican parties to stay on the high road and keep the discussion on Lincoln’s future."
