As Democratic mayoral hopeful Chris Beutler visited with UNL students in the Nebraska Union Tuesday night, the upcoming election to choose Lincoln's next top city leader seemed to loom closer than ever.
Mayoral candidate Chris Beutler is definitely winning the press release/press conference war, if such a war exists.
Chris Beutler proclaimed Monday that the city’s budgeting process is in shambles. He promised if he’s elected mayor in May, he will make long-term budget cuts to prevent annual budget shortfalls -- but not by increasing the city’s property tax rate.
In fact, it was the Democrat, Chris Beutler, who stressed that he wouldn’t raise the city’s property tax rate and would make long-term cuts to avoid annual budget shortfalls.
Beutler drove that message home even more than Republican Ken Svoboda or independent Roger Yant.
